White grub control

Experts Verts / Green Experts, a white grub elimination specialist, offers two ways to eliminate white grubs according to the applicable regulation in your city. We also offer many ways to prevent white grubs.

DESCRIPTION :

White grubs are the most harmful insects to grass. They can destroy a lawn in just a few weeks. White grubs are the larvae of June beetles or European chafers. They are often curved into a C shape, as seen on the photo, and can vary in size from 0.5 cm to 5 cm. They are easily identified by their brown heads and three pairs of legs.

LIFE CYCLE :

The life cycle of white grubs can last from one to three years depending on the kind of beetle. In the spring, we find the adults; during the summer, around June, they turn into beetles and emerge out of the grass to mate and lay their eggs; the beetles then die; in the fall, the new white grubs emerge and it is at that moment that they cause the greatest damage. Winter being so cold, white grubs go down deeper in the soil to avoid the frost.

DAMAGE :

It is when they are found in the roots that the grubs do most of their damage. They eat the roots, so the grass becomes weak, turns yellow, and the lawn can be pulled up easily by hand. There is also secondary damage, caused by skunks, raccoons, crows, or even birds digging in the lawn for grubs to eat.

DAMAGE REPAIR :

To repair grub damage, you must rake damaged areas to remove dead grass, spread seed evenly over these areas, and add some compost to cover the seed. Keep the seed moist until it has sprouted. For faster results, you can put down sod on these areas. Prepare the areas as if for planting and keep the sod moist until the grass is well rooted. Then, call the Experts Verts / Green Experts to eliminate grubs.
